Event Details

Mark your calendars for Saturday, March 7th, and come celebrate the first annual Active Kids Day Event, presented by the non-profit Florida Ice Sports INC with partnership from the Ice Factory of Central Florida. The marketing plan focuses on attracting enthusiastic participation by creating a memorable and inclusive experience that aligns with the interests of families with young children.

About the Event

The Active Kids Expo is a high-energy community event designed to introduce children to sports, movement, physical play, and healthy habits in a fun and encouraging environment. Families will enjoy hands-on activities, sport clinics, fitness challenges, local vendor stations, and opportunities to connect with youth athletic programs and wellness-focused businesses in Central Florida.

The Ice Factory of Central Florida serves 3,000+ area families annually through skating school, youth hockey, group events, and public sessions.
The Expo is expected to bring 400–600 local families throughout the day.
This event supports our mission to help kids be active, confident, and connected.

Meet & Greet with World & Olympic Athletes

Kids will have the rare opportunity to meet, talk with, and take photos with athletes who have competed on the world stage. Inspiring, motivating, and unforgettable!

Sports & Skill Demonstration Zones

Live sports demonstrations throughout the day, showcasing not only ice sports but a wide range of youth athletic programs from across Osceola and Orange County. These demonstrations allow families to see the activities in action, ask questions, and learn how to get involved.

Free Trial Classes

Curious about skating lessons? Kids can try a Learn to Skate class for free during our public skating session! Our certified coaches will guide new skaters through the basics in a fun, safe, and encouraging environment. This is a perfect opportunity for children who are brand new to the ice or want to build confidence before enrolling in lessons.

What Kids Will Learn:

How to stand and balance on skates

Marching and gliding forward

Safe falling and getting up

Simple turns and stopping techniques

Fun on-ice games to build confidence

Public Skating Session, 2pm-4pm, is $22.00 (including Skate Rental)

Free Trial Classes, Try Hockey for Free and all other onsite experiences are complimentary and don’t need paid admission.

Try Hockey for Free

Aspiring young athletes can lace up and try hockey at no cost thanks to our partners at the Tampa Bay Lightning Community Hockey Development

Includes:

Session Times

Beginner skating support tools available
Group instruction with certified USA Hockey coaches
Small-area games to build confidence and excitement
Staff and volunteers ensuring safety and fun at every step

No experience? No equipment? No problem! This clinic is open to ages 4-10 and for all skating abilities. Everyone will be able to experience the great sport of hockey! We will provide you with a helmet, elbow pads, gloves and a stick. Feel free to also bring your own helmet/bike helmet if you have one. Please dress your child/yourself in warm clothing.

The clinic will consist of getting the participants on the ice and having fun learning how to play hockey!

Session 1: 12:30pm (Check in Time) / 1:15 – 1:45 pm – 40 participants on the Main Rink
Session 2: 2:00pm (Check in Time) / 2:30 – 3:30 pm – 15 Participants on the Studio Rink
Session 3: 3:30pm (Check in Time) / 4:15 – 4:45 pm – 40 Participants on the Main Rink

Free Trial Classes!

During Active Kids Day, families will have the chance to take part in Free Trial Classes designed for beginners and first timers. It’s an easy, no-pressure way to try something new, build confidence, and discover a sport your child may fall in love with.

Trial classes are built to help you feel comfortable from the start—whether your goal is learning the basics, picking up a new hobby, or stepping into a sport you’ve always admired from the stands.

How the Free Trial Classes work

Free Trial Classes will be offered in limited spots during a designated timeframe. Participants will get a quick introduction and hands-on experience with our coaching team, plus a clear look at what the next step would be if they want to continue. The focus is simple: make it fun, approachable, and encouraging—no matter your age or experience.

Because space is limited, advance registration will be required for all on-ice activities, including Free Trial Classes. Registration details will be announced as we get closer to the event date, so be sure to follow the Ice Factory on social media and watch for updates.
